Pressure Advance

Eliminate corner bulges and ringing by compensating for pressure build-up in the nozzle before speed changes.

ℹ️
Why this matters: When the printer slows down for a corner, pressure in the nozzle is still pushing filament out. Pressure Advance compensates for this by reducing extrusion before the slowdown happens.
1
How Pressure Advance Works
📈
Pressure builds up
Filament compresses in the nozzle during high speed moves. Think of it as a compressed spring.
🐢
Printer slows down
For corners or direction changes, but the pressure inside is still high.
💧
Extra filament is pushed out
This causes bulging, blobs and ringing on corners — the classic PA=0 symptom.
PA compensates early
It reduces extrusion before the slowdown, resulting in sharp, clean corners.
⭐ Pro Tip
Every filament may require a slightly different PA value. Especially: PLA, PETG, ASA, TPU.

Choose Your Method

Select the calibration method you prefer.

Pattern MethodRecommended
Uses a test pattern with multiple PA values. Easiest to compare and most accurate.
Line Method
Uses single lines at different PA values. Faster to print, slightly less accurate.
Adaptive PAKlipper Only
Adjusts PA dynamically based on speed. Requires Klipper ≥0.13 firmware support.

📋Calibration Order
Common Mistakes
Using PA before Max Flow calibration
Calibrating too fast — use your real print speed
Using test patterns that are too small
Using a different filament than the one you print with
Changing temperature afterwards (PA changes with temp)
Pro Tip
PA interacts with speed. If you change your max print speed significantly, PA might need a small adjustment.
